The Disney World Skyliner

Nov 2, 2019

The Disney World Skyliner is Disney all-new way to move people from parks to resorts.

We recently had the opportunity to test out the skyliner after it’s re-opening. We took the skyliner from Epcot to Caribbean Beach Resort. There was little to no line at the Epcot station. There is no open food or drinks allowed on the skyliner so be sure to finish all your yummy Epcot goodies before boarding, or you’ll be asked to toss them.

Once you start boarding you will step onto the platform and board the gondola that slows but never stops moving. You’ll want to make sure to assist your smaller kids with the process. The gondola holds up to 10 people so you could be seated with another party.

Once onboard the door will close and you’ll start to pick up speed and take-off is quite quick and gives some butterflies. We rode the skyliner in the dark which made the views hard to make out but during the day. I’m sure this allows views of Disney property never seen before.

It was a quick, smooth ride with little swaying or bouncing. When you depart from the Epcot station you will come to a turn station where you will slow down to turn. It will then head toward Caribbean Beach and the Pop and Art of Animation resorts. This line also allows a stop at the new Riviera Resort, at this station you can either stay in the gondola or ask to get off. Your doors will open and the gondola will slow.

We opted to stay on board and head to Caribbean Beach. At the Caribbean Beach Station, everyone must disembark, this station is much bigger and allows you to change lines. You can go to Hollywood Studios, stay in the same line, go to Pop and Art of Animation or turn around and go back to Epcot. We chose to head back to Epcot.

The skyliner is a fun and exciting way to see Disney property and we are always looking for more transportation options. If you’re looking for the fastest way around the property you’ll probably want to find something else. But if you’re looking to explore Disney at a slower pace this is a great way to do it.

We will be using the skyliner on our low key Sundays when we like to explore the resorts and lesser-known Disney activities. We know the skyliner has had its hiccups. We are positive Disney will continue to work on the skyliner to smooth out all its wrinkles.

Will you be trying out the new Disney skyliner, on your next Disney vacation? Let us know we would love to hear your thoughts.
